Raag Yaman, is a melakarta rāga (parent musical scale) in the Carnatic music, and is also an important raga in Hindustani music tradition. Its Western equivalent is the Lydian mode. Yaman is regarded one of the grandest and most fundamental rāgas in Hindustani music. It should be performed during the first quarter of the night.
ITEM 1: Sarangi recital: Raag Bihag.
Performed by Ustad Surjeet Singh, with Harkiret Singh Bahra on tabla. Bihag is a Hindustani classical raga. Bihag is played in the night (second quarter of night). The mood of the raag is celebratory as well as romantic, making it a common raag sung especially on joyous occasions.
