Timeline (1945–2025)
📍 1945 – Born in Kujjar Mandi, Sheikhupura (now Pakistan) into a devout Namdhari family.
📍 1947 – Family resettled in India after Partition; later moved to Jivan Nagar.
📍 1952 – Received first harmonium at age 7; began playing alongside his mother’s shabad singing.
📍 1957 – Settled permanently in Jivan Nagar; early training in Gurbani sangeet deepened.
📍 1958 – At age 12, performed vaars before Sri Satguru Pratap Singh Ji, who lovingly named him “Raaga Singh.”
📍 1962 – Formal classical training began under Pandit Mahadev Ji (Jaipur Gharana) and Ustad Nihal Singh Ji Pakhawaji, arranged by Sri Satguru Jagjit Singh Ji.
📍 1966 – Performed in Delhi Hola Mahalla Sangeet Sammelan; became a disciple of sitar under Ustad Amjad Ali Khan Ji, alongside Gurdev Singh (sarod).
📍 1968–1974 – Helped organize Satguru Pratap Singh Memorial Music Conferences across India; tradition continues today at Sri Bhaini Sahib.
📍 1975 – Appointed teacher at Sri Bhaini Sahib alongside Ustad Mahinder Singh Ji; began training new generations of Namdhari musicians.
📍 1980s–1990s – Travelled widely with Sri Satguru Jagjit Singh Ji, performing kirtan, teaching, and representing Namdhari music on global stages.
📍 1990s–2010s – Lived and taught in England; trained both Namdhari and non-Namdhari students, notating hundreds of traditional compositions.
2010 – bestowed Ministry of Culture, Government of India’s Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
📍 2019 – Returned to Sri Bhaini Sahib under the guidance of Sri Satguru Uday Singh Ji; continued teaching despite health challenges.
📍 20 August 2025 – Completed his life journey.
📍 21 August 2025 – Final rites performed at Sri Bhaini Sahib by Sri Satguru Uday Singh Ji, who honored him as a preserver of traditions and a teacher of thousands.
