The\u00a0pain of the news knew of no bounds when the (unthinkable) reality unfolded. Observing Satguru Jis hukum, in quiescence,\u00a0the sangat started Naam Simran, Bhagauti de mala and gurbani recitation. On Monday\u00a0evening large number of Sadh Sangat came to the centre and performed an hour of Naam\u00a0Simran. This was followed by kirtan, collectively performed by the Southall Raagi Jatha.\u00a0They sang the shabad of Guru Ram Das Ji bani:<\/p>\n<p><em>Dhan Dhann Pitaa Dhan Dhan Kul<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Dhan Dhan Su Janani Jin Guru Janea Maye<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Towards the end, a Sadharan or Sahaj paath of Sri Adi Guru Granth Sahib was commenced.\u00a0Numerous persons in the sangat contributed to complete this path. The ceremonial closing of\u00a0this path was to be done along with other paaths at Sri Bhaini Sahib on 10 April 2016, as part\u00a0of the Mata Chand Kaur Jis Bhog ritual.<\/p>\n<p>Through-out the week leading to the Bhog (at Sri Bhaini Sahib), the Sadh Sangat collectively\u00a0did Naam Simran for 2 hours each evening. Photo-Slide shows and the Video of Mata jis\u00a0final cremation rites were shown. And members of Sadh Sangat shared about their personal\u00a0experiences and with Mata Ji. Bibi Tajinder Kaur spoke on her very personal relationship.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Also on 9th April:<\/strong> The weekend program was dedicated to Mata ji. After the hourly naam-simran, at\u00a019:00 the Ladies jatha did kirtan and katha in memory of Mata Chand Kaur Ji. Bibi Gian\u00a0Kaur, Bibi Kulwant Kaur, Sant Baldeep Singh Chana, s. Balvinder Singh Chana and Anjan\u00a0Saggu spoke of their personal moments with Mata Ji.\u00a0We salute Mata Chand Kaur Ji, who sacrificed her life for the sake of preserving Guru Nanak\u00a0Dev Jis Gur-gaddi. Meanwhile the hymns of Asa di Vaar &#8211; musical\u00a0recital of Bani in morning ragas- were sung. This was led by Raagi Satvinder Singh Bhogal.\u00a0He was accompanied by brother Kulwant Singh and Narinderpal Singh on the tabla while\u00a0Gushmir Singh and Gurtejpal Singh assisted with vocals and recital of verses. To round the\u00a0morning session, one Paath da Bhog was performed for quest of Satguru Ram Singh Ji\u2019s\u00a0darshan and hence concluded one reading of Sri Adi Granth Sahib.<\/p>\n<p>Sharing the message of Satguru Ram Singh Jis reforms on the morning talk-show on\u00a0Radio Lyca Dilse, UK pradhan Sulakhan Singh and Southall&amp;#39;s General Secretary, Ajeet\u00a0Singh were in conversation with Ravi Sharma. Two other similar radio presentations was\u00a0shared by Gurdev Singh Virdee on the Midlands RadioXL and the third was in Leicester by Bibi Amarjit Kaur Flora.<\/p>\n<p>Later in the evening the Sadh Sangat got together to continue marking the Basant Panchmi\u00a0of 2016. For this occasion (during the Naam Simran), Sant Kirpal Singh Chana shared a\u00a0special collection of Geets, Kavitas and disclosures about Satguru Ram Singh. A special art\u00a0composition was on display. The art-work graphically portrayed Satguru Ram Singhs main\u00a0reform programs and the sacrifice of Namdhari shaheeds.\u00a0After the concluding ardas of Naam Simran, Raagi Satvinder Singh supported by Hakam\u00a0Singh recited the bani of Guru Arjan Dev in the shabad : \u0a17\u0a41\u0a30 \u0a15\u0a3e \u0a26\u0a30\u0a38\u0a28\u0a41 \u0a26\u0a47\u0a16\u0a3f \u0a26\u0a47\u0a16\u0a3f \u0a1c\u0a40\u0a35\u0a3e \u0965 (Gur\u00a0Kaa Dharasan Dhaekh Dhaekh Jeevaa.)\u00a0Thereafter, Bibi Harbhajan Kaur presented a kavita.<\/p>\n<p>Sant Kehar Singh Matharu (Canada)\u00a0launched the English edition of his book &#8211; \u2018The Revolutionary (Guru) Ram Singh JiNamdhari\u2019. On the special occasion Southall Sangats www.kukasikhs.com posted a 4\u00a0minute video entitled <em>Satguru Ram Singh &#8211; A Brief Time Line<\/em> on its Facebook Page.<\/p>\n<p>The next day, 13 Feb 2015, the celebrations continued during the regular Saturday\u00a0gathering of Sangat,\u00a0Kaka Arjan Tara Singh Saggu sang the popular short geet <em>Khalsa de Reet mite jandee,\u00a0rakhi Satguru Ram Singh ney<\/em>. Suba Kuldip Singh read sakhi about birth of Satguru Ram\u00a0Singh Ji from Satguru Bilas Volume 1 (by Santokh Singh Bahowal). Shabad kirtan was\u00a0performed by Bibi Parbjot Kaur and Bibi Jagdish Kaur, accompanied on tabla by Sarabjit\u00a0Singh. Together they sang the shabads of Guru Arjan Devs bani, including\u00a0\u0a38\u0a41\u0a23\u0a3f\u00a0\u0a2f\u0a3e\u0a30\u00a0\u0a39\u0a2e\u0a3e\u0a30\u0a47\u00a0\u0a38\u0a1c\u0a23\u00a0\u0a07\u0a15\u00a0\u0a15\u0a30\u0a09\u00a0 \u0a2c\u0a47\u0a28\u0a70\u0a24\u0a40\u0a06\u00a0\u0965 (Sun Yaar Hamaarae Sajan Eik Karo\u00a0Baenantheeaa.)<\/p>\n<p>The significant contribution of the bicentenary celebrations of Avtaar purab of Sri Satguru\u00a0Ram Singh was an assessment of the twelveth Guru&amp;#39;s legacy and in particular of his\u00a0visionary doctrines that changed the face of Sikhism and shook the very foundations of\u00a0British Imperial rule in India in the late 19th Century. The core of Satguru Ram Singhs\u00a0mission was to re-ignite the Sikh Marayada and Dharam (religious foundations and\u00a0beliefs). This mission manifested through the preaching of Social and Political ideas.<\/p>\n<p>Secretary Ajeet Singh spoke about the effects that Satguru Ram Singh Jis teachings had in\u00a0the late 1800s and their relevance today, in particular the blessings Satguru Ram Singh Ji\u00a0showered on women. On social\u00a0media excitement fluttered among the sangat during the couse of the day. In theevening, the occasion was celebrated at Namdhari Sangat Southall UK with Naam\u00a0Simran, kirtan, kavitas and vyakhayan. After the hour of Naam-simran, kirtan was\u00a0performed by youngesters Gushmir Singh and Kartar Singh. Guru Arjan Dev Jis bani was\u00a0sung in three shabads:<\/p>\n<p>\u0a2e\u0a28\u0a41 \u0a18\u0a28\u0a48 \u0a2d\u0a4d\u0a30\u0a2e\u0a48 \u0a2c\u0a28\u0a48 \u0965 (Man Ghanai Bhramai Banai), \u0a2e\u0a28 \u0a2e\u0a47\u0a30\u0a47 \u0a39\u0a30\u0a3f \u0a15\u0a47 \u0a1a\u0a30\u0a28 \u0a30\u0a35\u0a40\u0a1c\u0a48 \u0965 (Man\u00a0Maerae Har Kae Charan Raveejai) and \u0a2c\u0a30\u0a38\u0a41 \u0a2e\u0a47\u0a18 \u0a1c\u0a40 \u0a24\u0a3f\u0a32\u0a41 \u0a2c\u0a3f\u0a32\u0a2e\u0a41 \u0a28 \u0a32\u0a3e\u0a09 \u0965 (Baras Maegh\u00a0Jee Thil Bilam N Laao).<\/p>\n<p>And Guru Nanak Dev Jis \u0a38\u0a3e\u0a35\u0a23\u0a3f \u0a38\u0a30\u0a38 \u0a2e\u0a28\u0a3e \u0a18\u0a23 \u0a35\u0a30\u0a38\u0a39\u0a3f \u0a30\u0a41\u0a24\u0a3f \u0a06\u0a0f \u0965 (Saavan Saras Manaa\u00a0Ghan Varasehi Ruth Aaeae) was the other offering.<\/p>\n<p>Youngsters Arjan Singh &amp;amp; Krishan Singh (grandsons of Prof Tara Singh Anjan Ji)\u00a0made their contribution to the proceedings of the evening by reading out a poem\u00a0(kavita) &amp;#39;Satguru Uday Singh prabh mera&amp;#39;. During the course of the evening Bibi\u00a0Harbhajan Kaur related a few very amazing events and real-life experiences with\u00a0Satguru Ji.\u00a0Prof Tara Singh Anjan Ji expressed his best wishes to Satguru Uday Singh Ji. He\u00a0shared with the sangat the roadmap to Satguru jis attainment of the gurgaddi. He told\u00a0the sangat that Satguru Uday Singh Ji set a prime example of how a hukam is\u00a0followed, obeyed and excuted. (Hukam is the goal of becoming in harmony with the\u00a0will of God.). He cited many examples of such interactions between Satguru Jagjit\u00a0Singh and Satguru Uday Singh Ji. He concluded that Satguru Uday Singh Jis <em>mun,\u00a0bachan and karam<\/em> were the cornerstone to his relationship with Sri Satguru Jagjit\u00a0Singh Ji.<\/p>\n<p>The sadh sangat now eagarly wait for darshan of Satguru ji in the forthcoming UK\u00a0tour in August.<br \/>\nDhan Sri Satguru Uday Singh Ji<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>15 July 2016: Sant Ripdhaman Singh Plaha Ji (October 1932 &#8211; May 2016)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sardar Ripdhaman Singh Plaha (very fondly known to many as Dhami across\u00a0his friends and Rip amongst his work colleagues), departed this earth for\u00a0heavenly abode on 25 May 2016. He was 84 years old.\u00a0Ripdhaman Singhs association with Namdhari Sikhs dates back to the times\u00a0of Sri Satguru Partap Singh Jis first visit to Kenya in 1958. In those early\u00a0days, recognising his musical talent, Satguru Partap Singh Ji and later Sri\u00a0Satguru Jagjit Singh Ji made him a regular contributor (along with Ragi\u00a0Udham Singh Devsi) to perform Kirtan. Dhami jis passion was playing Tabla.<\/p>\n<p>He was born in the family of Dr Assa Singh Plaha and Mata Dhan Kaur Plaha.\u00a0Dr Assa Singh was a doctor of homeopathic medicine of the University of\u00a0Kolkata, India. At the same time he was a very talented musician. Dr Assa\u00a0Singh learnt music from the Gwalior Gharana and settled in Kenya in 1935,\u00a0with the family joining him around 1940. Dr Ji performed Kirtan seva, in\u00a0classical format at the Gurudwara &#8211; Sis Ganj Sahib in Delhi over a period of\u00a018 years. Within the family archives, we also learn that K N Saigal, the\u00a0famous singer in the Bombay Music-Film industry was not only a close friend\u00a0but had also been tutored by Dr Assa Singh in Indian classical music .<\/p>\n<p>He married young at age around 18 (13 December 1950) to Harbhajan Kaur.\u00a0He leaves behind three children, sons, Davinder Singh and Bhupinder Singh\u00a0and daughter Jasvinder Kaur, his many nephews and nieces and other\u00a0children from his extended family, friends and a large network of his music\u00a0family.<\/p>\n<p>One of the many passions of Ripdhaman Singh was Indian Classical music,\u00a0a art he mastered at a very young age at the hands of his devoted and\u00a0professional father, Dr Assa Singh.\u00a0At his father\u2019s surgery, Ripdhaman Singh learnt compassion and empathy,\u00a0and at his father\u2019s music school in Nairobi he learnt playing various musical\u00a0instruments and became a master table player, an art he was known for\u00a0across a wide audience in the world, especially in Kenya, Uganda, at Sri\u00a0Bhaini Sahib, Punjab, India and the UK. It is his prowess in table that brought\u00a0him into close contact with same world famous table maestros like Ustad\u00a0Allah Rakha Khan and Ustad Sukhwinder Singh popularly known as Pinky.<\/p>\n<p>At the younger age he became a disciple of Sardar Jaswant Singh Amritsaria\u00a0and then latterly Ustad Allah Rakha Sahib during one of his UK tour. He had\u00a0accompanied on the Tablas with various high caliber Indian Musicians:<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 The Singh Bandhus (Tejpal Singh and Surinder Singh)<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Sheila Markanday (disciple of Ghulam Mustapha Khan of Bombay)<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Ragi Udham Singh Devsi who secured the title of a Gandharv Ragi\u00a0and had been a disciple of Dr Assa Singh<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Purshotam Kapila, a member of the famous ghazal singer Jagjit Singh.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Avtar Singh Paintal, a fine Indian classical vocalist.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Sohanlal Bhandari, a fine sitar player and disciple of the world famous\u00a0Pandit Ravi Shankar<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Pandits Rajan Sajjan Misra<\/p>\n<p>He shared and taught this art onto younger generations having initiated and\u00a0teaching classical music, particularly Tabla to various persons like his own\u00a0eldest Bhanja, Harjit Singh Seyan who in turn initiated his own son Rajveer\u00a0Singh into becoming a fine table player, Kuldip Singh Rayat, and Karandeep\u00a0Singh whose grandfather learnt music from Dr Assa Singh at his music school\u00a0in Nairobi.\u00a0He sowed the seeds of music in many Namdharis in East Africa and UK.\u00a0Notably, Ripdhaman initiated (Namdhhari Santoor wadak) Kiranpal Singh\u00a0(son of Sardar Satbachan Singh Deoora) into Tabla playing who later took up\u00a0learning Santoor with the divine blessings of Satguru Jagjit Singh Ji Maharaj.\u00a0Today Ustad Kiranpal Singh is known as one of the finest player of the\u00a0beautiful instrument Santoor under the discipleship of Pandit Shiv Kumar\u00a0Sharma.<\/p>\n<p>Ripdhaman Singh was a highly respected and loved member of Namdhari\u00a0Sikh Sangat Southall.Till recently he performed shabad kirtan during the\u00a0annual Jap Prayog.
